Our media team kept getting free 6-second YouTube Pre-roll ad placements as part of their buys. After a few goes, we decided there was probably something better we could put there than a cutdown of our 90-second anthem. Thus, Motel 6 Second ads was born, an idea so simple and so dumb, it quickly became our obsession.
Because the world deserves better than 6-second pre-roll. However the world rarely gets what it deserves so we compromised by making that pre-roll as enjoyable as it was informative.
Also, we won Best In Show at the American Advertising Awards with this one. Which is neat.
