Every Legend has their reason for being in the Apex Games. Some are here for fame. Others glory. Others because one of the participants is a mass murderer who killed her parents. We thought that last one was worthy of a 5-part animated series that took fans on an epic journey while grounding the story’s biggest moments in playable, in-game chronicles throughout the year.

We started by launching Episode 1 alongside a playable heist by our main protagonist. First, viewers witnessed 95% of the story online. Then, we invited them in-game to discover who really triggered a key trailer moment by having them that moment itself.

Episode 2 then featured a familiar Legend with a new look, showcasing the outside influences that caused him to change in-game before we re-released him with a totally reworked kit, aesthetic, and urgency to figure out what the hell was happening to him.

Episode 3 finally revealed all the players in our story through a fun game of head-potato after the Legends realized their personalities were a bit too large for classical espionage.

Finally, Episodes 4 and 5 concluded the online portion of the story, providing a climactic finale to the chase for Revenant’s mortality—and ultimate desire for control.

However some ends are just the beginning, and ours was no exception. Because a few days after the credits rolled, we announced a bold new playable BR experience that let our players pick up mere moments after Episode 5’s finale to take on an Avenger’s level threat the Legends had never faced before.
